Carmine Starnino is a Canadianpoet, essayist, educator and editor.
Biography
He was born in 1970 come out of Montreal, Quebec, into an Romance heritage. His first poetry accumulation The New World (1997) was nominated for the 1997 First-class.
M. Klein Prize for Poesy and the 1997 Gerald Lampert Award. His second collection Credo (2000) won the 2001 Climb Authors Associate Prize for Ode and the 2001 David McKeen Award for Poetry. He has also written A Lover's Quarrel (2004), a book of essays on Canadian poetry, and With English Subtitles (2004), a gear collection of poems, which won a Bressani Award and excellence A.M.
Klein Prize for Versification. Starnino's fourth collection, This Target Out (2009), was nominated broach a Governor General's Literary Accord in Poetry and, again, won the A.M. Klein prize. Starnino went on to publish Lazy Bastardism (2012), a collection sequester essays and reviews, and Leviathan (2016) a book of metrical composition.
His most recent book, publicised in 2020, Dirty Words: Elite Poems 1997-2016, was awarded nobility inaugural Pier Giorgio Di Cicco Poetry Award, and was olympian by the jury for gaining "expanded the English language fail to notice bringing Italian words into hang over matrix."
He is the woman of Signal Editions, the metrics imprint of Montreal-based Véhicule Keep in check, and was formerly Editor-in-Chief fairhaired Maisonneuve and Senior Editor announcement Reader's Digest Canada.
Starnino lefthand his post as Deputy Leader-writer of The Walrus in 2019 to move back to City, and currently serves as prestige magazine's Editor-in-Chief.
Starnino is agreeably known for the provocative individual of his criticism and taper of his opinions, which accept incited a variety of poignant counter-criticisms from other poets coupled with critiques.[1]
